6 week experiential men’s group

Men’s groups are amazing vehicles for self-growth. You can read all of the books, do all of the individual therapy, and practice mindfulness until you turn blue. Men’s group is a training ground to implement the knowledge and skills. It’s the place to speak directly and be spoken to directly. This is a place where the only thing that matters is being extremely honest with yourself and supporting others to do the same. The magic of this group lies in the subtle forms of conflict that emerge and the ways we both fail and succeed in meeting it. This is a container for growth and expansion. This is a place to be held accountable for who you know you are.

This 6 week experiential men’s group is an introductory men’s group focused on skill-building, psychoeducation, and engaging in the group process. In other words, we’re going to learn skills, practice them, and then apply these skills in the context of your life and the change you want to see.

How does this work?

This group is about seeing yourself more clearly and actively working on how you show up in your life. the same habits, patterns, and understandings that you have in your personal life will inevitably show up in this group. It might be your communication style, where you hold back, and/or how you deal with pressure or conflict. In a group context, you get to see these patterns as they happen. You’ll also hear how other men experience you through honest and direct feedback which is rare in our daily interactions. This group also serves as a container to try on new ways of doing things. This group is designed to give you a structured, supportive place to understand yourself, receive real feedback, practice new behaviors, and build stronger, more honest connections.

Topics covered include:

  • the nervous system, self regulation, and attachment

  • vulnerability and connection

  • values, meaning, and existentialism

  • love, trust, and interconnectedness

  • habits & discipline

why I love men’s groups

Hi, my name is Dylan, and I first joined a men’s group seven years ago. I was just out of school, I had no direction, no partner, and I thought that meditation was all I needed to finally feel good about myself. and it completely changed the trajectory of my life. Through the weekly meetings, I began examining parts of myself I had never really looked at before, including my trust in other men, my ability to build friendships with different kinds of people, my capacity to be direct and honest, and my ability to truly listen and empathize.

Being in these groups helped me see that my values around friendship were shifting. I realized that the people I wanted in my life needed to be able to talk about hard things and hold me accountable for the goals I said I wanted to work toward. Doing this work has deepened my understanding of who I am in the world and has improved the quality of all my relationships.

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have questions? Take a look at the FAQ or reach out anytime. If you’re feeling ready, go ahead and apply.

  • Short answer - yes. This is group therapy being run by a rostered psychotherapist. However, this group is not a replacement for ongoing individual therapy. This group should serve as an introduction to men’s work, a compliment to individual therapy, and/or a way to engage with other men around meaningful parts of your life.

  • Unfortunately at this time I cannot accept insurance for this group. I would love to change that in the future.

  • This group is for any adult male identifying individual who is looking to address the issues in their life in a group/community context. This is an LGBTQ+ and neuro-affirming group.

  • The base rate for this experiential group is $300. We have a limited number of sliding scale spots available per group. Additionally, upon registering, you can choose to pay the “supporter rate” of $400 to contribute to the sliding scale fund. This will help more people access this program.
